Winter, spring, summer or fall, there's always something fun to do in and around Velva. Whether you're a spectator or a participant, activities and entertainment abound.
Our gorgeous city park is a focal point year round, offering 23 acres of lush greenery. Shaded by towering trees and peppered with playground equipment, the park also features tennis courts, horseshoe pits, a sand volleyball pit, picnic tables, grills and the high school sports complex, which includes baseball diamond, football field and the track. A quick walk over the walking bridge takes you to the public swimming pool and softball complex. Our new 9-hole grass greens golf course is located just north of town and offers sand traps, water hazards and wide fairways.
The autumn months open up some of the best hunting in the nation as local shooters and archers look to bag a trophy. Fishing is always popular, whether off a dock, in a boat or through a hole in the ice. In the winter, there is ice skating and cross country skiing, as well as warmer indoor activities, from bowling and pool leagues to high school spectator sports.
