Staying cool -- or warm -- indoors

If you're not the outdoors type, Velva offers a bevy of ways to keep busy and have fun inside, as well. Bowling, pool and dart leagues are all available, providing fun social opportunities. Local nonprofit groups sponsor Blackjack and pull tabs in local lounges, so you can try your luck and help the community at the same time. These establishments also offer live entertainment and special "feeds," including regular Steak Nights, Rocky Mountain Oyster feeds and vension offerings.

Bingo is held every Saturday night at the American Legion Hall, as well. There are several dining options in Velva, and even more in nearby Minot. Several Native American-operated casinos are located in the area if you're more of a gambler.
